This American army survival ration contains ‘pemmican’, a legacy of the native peoples of North America who originally prepared it with bison meat and fat. The American army version shown here is a mixture of dried fruit and peanuts. It did not contain meat, but was part of a food kit, alongside a tin of condensed milk, a packet of biscuits and a bar of chocolate.
