Counterfeiting and adulteration were commonplace in the early days of the food industry. It was all the easier for products such as Maggi-Aroma to be sold in bulk by traders who might be tempted to adulterate or dilute them. This explains why this bottle of Aroma bears a label with the date November 25, 1925 and the imprint of a notary's seal in red wax. Samples of this type were taken at Maggi's request right up to the Second World War for testing at the cantonal laboratory in Zurich.
