The Alimentarium is accessible to all
The Alimentarium is actively committed to promoting inclusion and enabling everyone to take full advantage of its spaces and facilities. Our reception team is fully aware of and trained to help people with special needs.
Practical information:
When to come to the Alimentarium
- The museum opens at 10am and closes at 6pm from April to September and at 5pm from October to March.
- To visit the museum in a calm atmosphere, Saturday mornings are the least busy times in the museum.
- The museum is closed on Mondays, unless Monday is a public holiday in the canton of Vaud.
How do I get to the Alimentarium?
- By public transport: From Vevey station, take bus 201 or 202 towards Rennaz to the Hôtel de Ville stop. The museum is a one-minute walk from the bus stop.
- Private transport: Parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility are available in the neighbourhood of the museum.
- The entrance for people with reduced mobility is marked.
How much does admission to the Alimentarium cost?
- For AI card holders, admission to the museum costs CHF 12 on presentation of the card.
- AI card holders may be accompanied. Admission is free for the supporting person.
- Guide and assistance dogs are welcome throughout the museum.
What facilities will you find at the Alimentarium?
- Accessible toilets on the second floor, accessible by lift.
- Staircases equipped with a handrail.
- All the exhibition floors are accessible by lift.
- A cloakroom with lockers on the ground floor, accessible to people with reduced mobility.
- A wheelchair and walker are available on request from Reception.
- Folding chairs are available in the exhibition.
- A café on the ground floor with level access.
- A bookshop on the ground floor with level access.
- At the reception desk, we will also be providing kits adapted for visually impaired people:
- Reading glasses
- Backlit lamps
- Magnifying glasses
- Binoculars
- For people with cognitive or neuroatypical disabilities:
- Noise-cancelling headphones (children and adults)
- Anti-stress balls
- Weighted blankets
- Visual hourglass
What can you do at the Alimentarium?
- For groups, we offer sensorial tours and culinary workshops adapted for people with disabilities. These activities are organised on request. Write to us at reservation@alimentarium.org and we'll put together a visit adapted to your needs.
