These ration packages were destined to the US Air Force troops in 1942. The food was wrapped in waxed cardboard to make it more waterproof to help keep it fresh. The dinner rations of the American soldiers consisted of one tin of food (not shown here), biscuits, sugar, coffee, a packet of four cigarettes and matches, chewing gum, toilet paper and a packet of powdered drink mix. A soldier’s supper was rationed as follows: tinned meat, biscuits, vanilla toffees, a packet of four cigarettes, chewing gum, instant coffee, sugar and a stock cube.
