Coffee pots of this type frequently appear in the paintings of Swiss artist Albert Anker (1831–1910), to the extent that they now bear his name. With their rounded handle, elongated silhouette and three feet,‘Anker coffee pots’ resemble the hot-chocolate pots that appeared at the same time.
This ‘Anker Sonntagskanne’, Sunday coffee maker, is made of copper and is a smaller model than the ‘Anker Wertagskanne’ weekday coffee maker (see AL1801), which is made of brass, a the more economical metal.
