Coffee pots of this type frequently appear in the paintings of Swiss artist Albert Anker (1831–1910), to the extent that they now bear his name. With their rounded handle, elongated silhouette and three feet, ‘Anker coffee pots’ resemble the hot-chocolate pots that appeared at the same time.
This is the brass weekday coffeepot ‘Anker Wertagskanne’, which is larger than the more expensive copper Sunday coffeepot ‘Anker Sonntagskanne’ (see AL1800).
