Overview

The digestive system, comprising the digestive tract and its accessory glands, breaks down and absorbs food. As food journeys through the digestive tract, it passes one segment after another, each fulfilling a particular function. The enteric nervous system, also known as the ‘abdominal brain’, orchestrates all these functions.
