The Alimentarium selected for the Swiss Museum Prize 2026

This year, the competition highlights the theme “Mediation for All Generations”: places that bring people together, encourage exchanges and create connections between audiences of all ages.

At the Alimentarium, food becomes a true common language between generations. Through the exhibition, workshops, the garden, and cooking activities, everyone is invited to discover, share their experiences and learn. Children, teenagers, adults and seniors develop new perspectives on the ways we eat and live together.

Through a participatory and accessible mediation approach, the museum encourages the sharing of knowledge and fosters encounters between visitors of all ages. Because it is closely linked to memory, emotions and everyday practices, food brings generations together around a shared experience.
